The Teamsters Training and Development Department will conduct a Business Agent Skills in Survival (BASIS) Teamsters Leadership Academy (TLA) for new local union business agents, April 14-18, 2008 at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Headquarters building in Washington, D.C. The four and ½ day training will provide tactics and strategies for organizing, negotiating, managing work, effective representation including building strong bargaining units. The program will draw on the expertise of IBT leaders and staff. Before making travel arrangements, please contact Marie Nolan in the Training and Development Department at (202) 624-8965 to confirm space availability. A block of sleeping rooms has been reserved at the Washington Court Hotel. To make hotel and travel reservations, you may call the Teamsters Travel Department at 1-800-IBTFLY1 or the Washington Court directly. Be sure to mention that you are with the Teamsters BASIS TLA. The deadline for hotel reservations is March 14, 2008. Travel arrangements should be made as soon as possible. Affiliates are responsible for the cost of their own transportation and lodging. There is a registration fee of $100 per person for this program. The registration deadline for the program is April 7, 2008.
