The Teamsters Training and Development Department will conduct a Teamsters Leadership Academy (TLA) on Organizing for local union organizers and other designated staff. The program will be held on March 10-13, 2008 and hosted by Local 79 in Tampa, Florida. The four-day program will teach participants how to build a successful organizing local by learning the principles of union organizing, and how to put together a strategic comprehensive campaign plan while dealing with today’s organizing challenges and obstacles. Please confirm space availability for this class before making hotel or travel arrangements by contacting Marie Nolan in the Training and Development Department at (202) 624-8965. A block of sleeping rooms has been reserved at the Crowne Plaza Tampa East. To make reservations, please call the hotel directly. The deadline for hotel reservations is February 28, 2008. Travel arrangements should be made as soon as possible for contacting the Teamsters Travel Department at 1-800-IBTFLY1. Affiliates are responsible for the cost of their own transportation, lodging and meals that are not provided through the program. There is a registration fee of $75 per person for this program. The registration deadline for the program is March 3, 2008. Please make all checks payable to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
